First Floor Design
North Haven, CT
When this couple downsized from a very large home, they sold their furniture and dreamed of a new look. The couple loved coastal design, as well as the color blue, but had no idea how to pull their thoughts together into a cohesive space.
So they asked me to help them start fresh.
We stained the previously yellow-orange hardwood flooring, giving it a cool tan finish with grey undertones. The angled fireplace wall was a beautiful feature crying out to be emphasized, so I enhanced it with a dark navy accent.
We combined a very preppy plaid rug with a comfy sofa, two deep-sea blue end chairs, fun patterned throw pillows, and a striped ottoman. Perfect!
On the opposite wall, two blue-patterned chests sit under a large, round wooden mirror. Light wood tones, and bright white and gold accessories add to the seaside feel.
In the dining room, a light-finished round dining table and four very comfortable upholstered chairs made this a delightful space to have a meal or share a conversation.

(Even the choices that were completely out of my comfort zone) Thank you for making our house a home. Highly recommended!”
